It’s Official: Our Medical Clinic is Now a Hospital

Introducing Centre Hospitalier Unifiée de Bigot

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you:

The Zorangé clinic has undergone a remarkable transformation and is now a fully functional small hospital, equipped to provide higher level healthcare services to Zorangé and the surrounding community.

The name of the new hospital is Centre Hospitalier Unifiée de Bigot.

This transformation represents Hope for Haiti Foundation’s commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality for everyone we serve.

The Department Public Health in Haiti has been asking for years that we become a hospital. With the difficulties in travel to Port au Prince, the need has only increased.  The medical staff have stepped up their mobile clinics bringing lab and now ultrasound services to remote areas.

If you have been fortunate to take the trip to Gaury, can you imagine having an echocardiogram available there? Yes! This is really happening!

Here are some key highlights of our small hospital:

Enhanced Services

We now offer a wider range of medical services, including ultrasound (pending tech availability), expanded lab services, and will soon have an ambulance to transport patients to the clinic.

Teaching Facility

We continue to provide teaching opportunities for medical residents. The residents have been very pleased with the opportunities to learn in Zorangé with many asking to return as staff.

Our Healthcare Team

The team is advancing to new heights. Dr. Jeff has led the expansion of services and Chief Nurse Macdala has ensured that we have the necessary space and supplies to address the increased level of care. This is no small task with the roads to Port au Prince still blocked.

Community Impact

The community has long awaited the quality of care that we have offered as a clinic to be expanded to include hospital care.  Long difficult roads have often worsened outcomes for the people we serve.

We hope you all may be able to visit the new hospital. We are thankful to all the staff in Zorangé for their great service to the  community.
