Touring Haiti’s hospitals

Marlene Rickert, medical team member, is traveling in Haiti this week.  We received this email update from Marlene last night.

Dr. Gabriel, from HFHF, with Dr. Jordan Pyrda, a Partners in Health general surgeon.

Hope for Haiti is collaborating with several hospitals to provide surgical care in southern Haiti.

We have met with leaders at St. Michel hospital in Jacmel,  Partners in Health in Cange, as well as their new hospital in Mirebalais and Albert Schweitzer in Deschappelles. All agree that this care is a critical need that is not available to people in the area we serve.

We will have our first surgical trip in April and are in urgent need of donations for large equipment that will need to be purchased in Haiti including an autoclave, surgical lights, gurneys, and suction equipment .  Donors would be recognized by a plaque on the equipment.
