Between 50 – 80% of rural Haitians are illiterate. HFHF has 100% literacy by the 6th grade. We house the only library and computer lab within a 50 mile radius.

The leading cause of death in Haitian children under 5 is dehydration from diarrhea. HFHF provides rehydration treatment and water filters to prevent deaths from diarrhea. We employ 19 community health workers to provide education for families to prevent diarrhea.

In rural Haiti, there is 1 doctor for every 10,000 patients. HFHF employs a 7 person team at our Zorangé clinic, with US medical professionals providing support and training throughout the year.

3 of 4 Haitians have no running water. Most Haitians walk 2 miles roundtrip to get unclean water for drinking, bathing, cooking, and cleaning. HFHF is currently working on providing running water at our school and clinic, and to the community at large. We provide water filters to families.
