Library staff and workshops help raise up future leaders

Some members of the Education Team, along with Louis Adam (our founder’s brother) conducted workshops for teachers on active learning and the Character Counts program.

In Haiti, most students write simply by copying from a blackboard and learning is done by recitation. Active learning encourages the teachers to engage the students more with exercises like reader response journals, to get them thinking critically about what they’re reading and composition. The teachers are really embracing these techniques.

While we’ve had a library in the school for some time, we now have 4 full-time staff to run it! This library is the only one of its kind in the region and will help increase our school’s effectiveness.
