Holding Positivity in Our Hearts

Hello Everyone,
In this day and age, it is very difficult to insulate oneself from current events. There is no doubt in my mind that some or many of us wish to shut the world out at times, but we can’t.  Today is a day that will never be forgotten in every single Haitian’s heart and mind living in Haiti and throughout the world.  January 12, 2010 at 4:53 p.m., Haiti shook for 35 seconds — and for those that lived those moments, it might as well have been 35 hours. Fast forward to eight years later, we thank God for all those who survived that tragedy. Haiti takes this day as a day of reflection and prayer and thanksgiving for the survival of the country.
A lot of Haitians, and friends and partners of Hope for Haiti Foundation, find ourselves enraged with anger and fighting back tears for how Haiti has been portrayed by the most powerful man in the world! On behalf of Haiti and HFHF, I thank you for your texts, emails, notes, and phone calls. I was reminded today that there is a time for all things — today may be a time to fight back tears and anger, but this, too, shall pass.
So it is with this hope that I am writing to remind you, as well, that this moment will pass. We will absorb it and move forward. Those of you that have had the opportunity to partner and collaborate and befriend the people of Haiti have different experiences, but I know there are more positive than negative ones. And I know we latch onto those that are positive.
Thank you for your support! Thank you for your steadfastness! Thank you for reminding me that we will continue to persevere and be determined to press forward in our work in Bainet and the surrounding communities!
